Answer: The novel was interesting and made me want to read more to know what the outcome of the situations were. The characters were also one thing that made the story going so good. The writer could make up stories and situations based on the personalities of the characters. I liked the ''big mouth'' person, because I´m kind of similar to him, the funny person.

Sometimes it can be hard to catch a reader´s attention just by describe how things can go, but she did it well. There were this part of the book that caught my attention and that was the part when Matt was dying to have Ursula as his friend, I thought to myself that sometimes people get very desperate and when I think about it, I realise that most of the public get desperate for something and that is completley normal.

I think it was a very good book and the evident for that is that I read the whole book and this might be the only book I´ve read to the end. It made things thats boring interesting. Like how the everyday life is like in both Matt´s and Ursula's life.

  2. The message of this book is obviously about friends. Where do we have them these days? good question. Because in this book, they show you how everything can change in a few seconds. Well this is more a story. Nowadays you don't really know everything about your friends, unless the closest ones. This story shows another big massage. The inside in peoples hearts is nothing like the outside. One friend can be evrything you need. But this starts with the terrorising thing and ends with a really lucky ending. the gossips around ruin the most. This book is filled with emotions and seems so right. Another thing is that people can change only if they want. Other can't replace you. They show you that you've got to trust yourself.

This story was kind of nice. I think it's more a teenge-book. But the message were really good. Even adults needs to learn that stuff. Sometimes the book could be boring becasue they tell you every single detail. Anyway I liked it. Beacause a only have like 5-10 really good friends the rest is just friends. I agree that you can't trust anybody just beacause they like you. The focus was mostly on Matt but There were more to read in Ursulas chapters.

  3. I didn't really know what to expect from this book but I was pleasantly surprised for sure.
All though it is a teen-book, which i don't normally read, it had depth and meaning, which I liked. It brought up subjects that you are not used to read about in these types of books,
they tend to be on the more superficial side.
I liked the fact that there was never a boring page in the book, there was always something exciting happening or something new to learn about the main-characters Ursula and Matt. I really like how both Ursula and Matt and their relationship grow as the book goes on.

To summarize up the book real quick; it tells the story of two very similar individuals who don't realize it. One is trying desperatly to fit in and the other doesn't give a damn. They both have lot to learn from each other. When Matt is being accused of a bomb-threat to the school Ursula isthe only one who sees the injustice of it all. When all the other kids at the school takes one step back, she takes two steps forward for what she thinks is right. I really like this trait in her, that she stands up for what she believes in and doesn't care what other people think.Matt is actually the one which all the drama happens to, but I think Ursula is the one who grows the most.

As I continued reading the book an unlikely friendship takes form that in the end might become something more...

In this book they learn who their true frieds are.
And most importantly they learn about themselves.

  4. 1. In the beginning of the book I found it quite hard to see what is going to happened next but after a few pages you could almost predict what would happened up next. I really did liked the characters in the book because they were so different but still equal, I liked that because it made the point in the book more exciting.

It's pretty clearly to me what the book is about, and what the writer wants to tell the readers. It is a book about friendship, gossip, trust and disappointment. To learn from eachother and to learn about themselves. The story is pretty much like today's society among young people.

I liked the book and found it very interesting to read it, but at some level I think the book is similar to very many other teen-books that I have read. But overall I really liked it and it was fun to read it.

  5. When i Started to read the book I didn't felt I was interested in it. But after some few chapters I was putting myself into it and started to like the book more and more and I couldnt stop reading. But after every chapter you wanted to continue to next and see what would happend because it happens thing always and thats doesn't make you bored reading it.

They book is almost about how we live today, about betrayal when Matts friends betrayed him and Ursula who helped him through a very hard time in school, who always was there for him even she didn't knew him at the beginning. The book show you that even the nearest could betrayed you. And always be there to help people in bad situations because one day you could be in the same place.

I really liked this book because you could put yourself in the same situation and try to figure out how i would do if I were in the same situation like Matt. But it was a good book and even who doesn't like to read books is going to start to read because you never find the book boring to read, it always happen things who make you want to continue reading.

  6. When I started to read the book, I thought that it was very boring. But when I got in to the story a little better, I found it interesting.
The book's about friends and love, but also betrayal and hate. And that everything can change in a second.
The author writes in an exciting and interesting way, that makes it a good book.

  7. The begining of the book is quite strange and your thorown in to Matt Donaghys life in an instant. You get to know his best friend and hes school but also that something strange is going on right in the start of the book because the cops wants to talk to him. Then right afterwards you get to know a new person, Ursula Riggs and then the whole story starts. In my opinion it was a bit confusing at the start but as kept reading things got cleared up and i started to enyoj this novell.

Personally my favorite part is when you can really tell that ugly girl is changing, shes becomming a totally different girljust because of her feelings towards Matt. You can really see this cold, tall, sad looking masculin girl transforming to the complete oposite. For me this book was all about ffriends, making the right chioces and knowing what to do when you friends betray you. I think matt did the right choices for example in the end, when everything was back to normal and hes friend came crawling back to him, that didnt affect his feeliongs towards ugly girl and protected her when they made fun of her.

I enyojd this book alot and thought it was good and exiting reading

  8. I didn't enjoy reading Big Mouth and Ugly Girl. I didn't find it amusing at all. I like reading books where you can interpret it in different ways. The content of the book was too clear. It's about the teenage life in America where friendship, trust and status is what counts. The author wants to show that friends come and go. But real friends stay. When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

The fear of terrorism is bigger than before in USA and Joyce Carol Oates chose to write it in the book in hope to make it more interesting. What would have been more interesting was if she had chosen a character with foreign background and write about racism too. If she had done that I think I would find the book more interesting because then it would have even more drama and also something me and many others could relate to.

The book was easy to read and to understand. Some words were hard to understand but you could kind of guess sometimes what they meant. Overall I think it’s a boring book. When I started to read the book I almost predicted everything that happened. But I’m glad that Pumpkin in the end was not hurt, I didn't care about the rest.
